Call your Senator today and ask him if he has read the current version of SB444. Tell him it allows 16-year-old children to occupy positions of authority in Oklahoma’s polling places. If he denies that (as my Senator initially did), ask him to read it while you are on the phone with him.
It will slowly dawn upon him that non-voting age teenagers (16-year-olds with no high school diploma) are allowed to occupy any of the three polling positions (the inspector, judge, or clerk of each precinct)!
Because it came from the Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary (Paul Ziriax), even Nathan Dahm, Joseph Silk, David Bullard, and Rob Standridge voted for it in round one! All presumed it dealt with unimportant administrative minutia. Having spoken to Senator Standridge in some detail, he regrets having made inaccurate assumptions and is now opposed to the bill entirely.
